On completion of house extension work, the clients’ front drive and existing planting were in need of some serious attention.

The brief: ‘Parking for three vehicles (in line) and renovated planting areas with a request that the driveway should not dominate the entire site’

With this in mind, existing planting areas were expanded with one island bed creating two routes to the front door for pedestrian visitors and car users parked further up the drive.

The new planting scheme has an emphasis on form and texture with flower colour being predominantly white. A mix of shrubs, perennials and bulbs are used for a long season of interest.

A tired old hedge was pruned hard back and interplanted with mixed native hedging to create an ideal nesting site when mature.
